RIVERINE COTTAGE in Francschhoek is a short stroll from the much revered village with its gourmet restaurants and boutique shops and art galleries. An old thatched country farmhouse with a family kitchen where recipes are tried and tested with gourmet food bought from the surrounding farms and delis. The large comfy lounge is where the family gathers by the hearth in winter while Summer means doors wide open onto the enormous veranda where one lies in the sun with a good novel and piles of magazines, listening to the tinkling of the stream below.
Riverine is beautifully layered with collected treasures, linen slip covers, original artworks. Vintage furniture with weathered patina. There is a separate cottage for extra visitors, giving more privacy and space. We spent endless hours on the tennis court with the teenagers. We walked down the country roads and explored the countryside. Riverine is a laid back country Hideaway. Big on comfort and soul
